My 2022 Bucket List

Updated: Mar 9, 2022

It is no secret to anyone that knows me well... I love making lists and keeping track of everything I do in my life. Bucket lists are one of my favorite type of lists to make.

Making long-term goals and life bucket lists is really fun, however, I almost enjoy making short-term bucket lists more simply because I get to check off boxes faster and get to enjoy new experiences sooner! Call me crazy, but I have a bucket list for everything, including the year 2022. Keep reading to see what I am manifesting for this year.

(And yes, I believe that making these lists manifests things to happen! For example, in the year 2017 I put "Go to a Golden State Warriors basketball game" on my bucket list & guess what- I not only went to a game but I got to go to a home finals game in Oakland, California with my best friend!)

1. Run 1 Half-Marathon

Do I love to run? No. But, I like the challenge of training and my goal is to complete 5 half marathons before I turn 30. I am right on track to meet that goal; I have ran 3 half marathons & 1 full marathon (never ever again).

Ideally I would like to run this years' half in a National Park. Some NPs have 1 marathon each year and my sister's husband to be ran the half marathon in Glacier National Park last year. I just think it would be so fun and a great change of scenery, plus a reason to travel and another NP off my list!

I have yet to sign up for a half or start running at all, so I am a bit behind on this goal unfortunately. Maybe once spring weather arrives I will get my booty in gear.

2. Go Camping (in our new truck tent)

One of my favorite gifts that we received for our wedding is a tent that goes in the bed of our truck! Spencer and I have never gone camping together (only glamping in Idaho) but I think we both like to camp and sleeping in the truck bed on an air mattress seems so fun to me! Maybe I am crazy, haha.

If I had to pick and if it worked out, I would choose for us to go camp along the shore of Lake Michigan where my husband and I went on a little mini-moon this past November. It was pretty then, even in the wintertime.

3. Upstairs Bathroom Makeover

We are hoping to move to a different house in the year 2022! One of the last 'big projects' that we want to get done to our current home is to give the upstairs bathroom a makeover. It is currently not terrible, however it is not as cute or as functional as I would like it to be. We hardly ever use it now and I hope to change that!

Some things I plan to do:

-Paint the tile on the floor & walls

-Paint the walls & possible add a pattern (as seen on TikTok)

-Update the light fixtures

-Replace the toilet with one that works better

-Replace the bath faucet with one that can function as a shower -Add a shower curtain

Stay tuned for updates!

4. Go on a Romantic Honeymoon

Did you guys know that I am a teacher? I teach high school Spanish! Because of that, we were not able to take the dream honeymoon we want right after our wedding in November- I cannot take that much time off from school. So because of this, we did a mini-moon and we will take our honeymoon in June.

For our mini-moon we drove about 6 hours from where we live to the shores of Lake Michigan in Minnesota where we stayed in a honeymoon suite on the water. For November, this was the closest we could get to having a view and that we could make work for the long weekend. We explored the shore a bit and did a lot of relaxing by the fireplace.

In June, we plan to travel to Greece- Athens, Santorini, & Mykonos for 10 days! My husband has never been to Europe and I have always dreamed of traveling to Greece for all of the Mamma Mia vibes, so I am super excited! Stay tuned for our itinerary and how the trip goes.

*If you have ever been and have any tips, must-dos or recommendations on where to stay, hit me up in my email!

5. Take the Dogs Hiking

I love hiking and I mostly hike when I travel- because I live in the midwest where 'hiking' is not actually hiking. But, I still want to take my two doggos to some state parks in the summer and fall to explore some trails. Especially now that our puppy will be big and over a year old!

6. Go to a Museum

One of my favorite museums- The Louvre

This one is pretty random, but I have not been to a museum in FOREVER! And I really enjoy them. So, I am hoping that I will get to go to one this year. My husband has never been to the Field Museum in Chicago, so that is a possibility for a long weekend this summer.

7. Launch High School Spanish Trip for 2024

One of the best parts of my job as a high school Spanish teacher is that I get the opportunity to show my students the world through EF Student Tours. At my school, every 4 years we get to take a tour! The one that I am planning for 2024 will be my first one as the group leader (my last one scheduled for 2020 got cancelled due to Covid-19) and we are going to the beautiful country of Costa Rica!

I have been to Costa Rica twice now, once to study in college and once to chaperone a student tour in 2019. I absolutely love Costa Rica and I think my students will to because it is so beautiful, it has tropical weather and rainforests, and there is so much to do while on tour: white-water rafting, zip-lining, coffee and chocolate tours, night hiking in the rainforest, swimming in the ocean and hot springs, kayaking next to a volcano, and more!

This one is not really a goal because I do have to launch the tour now in order to fundraise and get students signed up, but it is just something that I am excited to get to do this year in preparation for two years from now!

Maybe someday I will write an itinerary or top things to do in Costa Rica... or go check out https://www.eftours.com/. They have tours for teachers to lead, but also they have college-age tours, tours for young adults, & study abroad and gap year tours, and more! They are super easy to work with and if you are not very good at planning trips- they do all of the work for you! I would definitely use EF if I were traveling to a country that I didn't feel confident in planning for, like Antartica! (yes, they have tours to Antartica)

8. Write 20 Blog Posts

I am very much so a beginner when it comes to all of this blogging stuff, but I have so many trips and topics to write about. People have always told me that I should write about the trips I take since I travel often and always do the trip planning myself when I do. So, prepare for posts on different trip itineraries, bucket lists, top things to do in different places, my favorite places I have traveled, & some tips and tricks!

If there is anything you'd LOVE to see me write about, let me know!

9. Visit the DSM Botanical Garden

My plant babies

This is another random, but very specific one. I just want to take a little road trip to Des Moines to visit the botanical garden because I have never been and I have been seeing many people visit it on my social medias! Plus, it is a very cool-looking place to take pictures.

10. Finish Reading the Bible (finally)

Fun fact: I have been trying to get through the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, since I was in college! That was like 5 years ago...

I am so close to being done though and if I stick with my routine, I should be finishing it in a few months. I read one chapter each morning along with my Bible study app called First 5. I love spending time with God while I drink my morning coffee, even better on early out days.

11. Complete the Murph Challenge

This has been on my bucket list the last few years and I have never officially done it. I have done variations of it, but just at random times through the year.

Will I do it this year? Maybe... I'm not super super committed to this one, especially since I may be doing a triathlon again that weekend.

12. Throw the (2nd) Best Bachelorette Party for My Sister

A bachelorette party in Denver that I am in charge of planning the itinerary for? Right up my alley! Eventually I will post the plans and pictures, but for now, just know that it is going to be pretty epic!

She threw me the MOST epic bachelorette party, so it is only right that I return the favor and give her the second best one ever!

We will see just how many of these I accomplish in the year 2022! I'm looking forward to it.
